AVID

AVID is a college readiness program designed to support all students. It begins in elementary school, embedded throughout the day. It then evolves in middle and high school as both a targeted elective program and is also woven into school-wide strategies. AVID closes the achievement gap through a rigorous curriculum focused on reading, writing and college-going skills.
AVID serves 6th, 7th & 8th grade students and takes the place of an elective class. Students who take AVID in middle school have a greater chance of being accepted into AVID in high school and a 90% chance of being college ready when they graduate high school!
Who may apply for AVID: Any interested students may apply. We are primarily looking for students who will be the first in their family to attend university, and do give priority to students with B/C grades, who are not currently in honors classes. Students need to have excellent citizenship and a drive to succeed.
